The start of the 1984-85 TV Season launched what later became to be know as NBC’s Thursday Night Must See TV line up. NBC had languished for many years behind CBS and ABC, but with the launch of “The Cosby Show” they were able to draw in and keep audiences. Thursday night would belong to NBC starting in the mid-80s and that title would hold strong for almost 20 years with hits like Cheers, Seinfeld, ER, and others. It wasn’t until Friends went off the air 2004 that NBC’s Thursday night dominance ended.
