Toothpick Marshmallow Tower Game Prep & Play
The Toothpick Marshmallow Tower game can be played in various ways including team and individual play.

First Decide Toothpicks of Spaghetti

We have gotten several emails concerning whether you should use toothpicks or spaghetti to play this game. Well both can be used but if you want really crazy looking towers spaghetti works best. However if tower strength is important to your game then toothpicks work best.

Toothpick Marshmallow Tower Game Set Up
Divide the guests into equal groups or decide on individuals play.

Hand out a set amount of toothpicks (spaghetti) and marshmallows, maybe 20 and 15, to each team and or individual.

How to Play Toothpick Marshmallow Tower Game
Inform the teams / players that they will have a set amount of time to create either the tallest or strongest Toothpick Marshmallow Tower in a set amount of time. (We suggest 5 minutes)

For the Tallest Tower – Each team works to build the tallest tower made of nothing but toothpicks and marshmallows. Once the tower is complete it must be able to stand on its own for 1 minutes without falling over or collapsing.

Crown the winner of the Tallest Tower!

Playing Variation of the Tallest Tower
Want a little different challenge. During the party group players into teams and one group at a time move them into a separate room and show them the challenge. Then give those players “x” amount of minutes (maybe 3 minutes) to complete the challenge using as many marshmallows and toothpicks or spaghitti as they can.

After time’s up, stop the tower creation, take a photo of the team with their tower and measure and record the height of the tower.
Then escort the team that just finished to another room (so they can’t tell others what they did) or back to the party and tell them not to tell anyone else, deconstruct the tower that was built and bring in the next team to complete the challenge. Continue this process until all the teams have taken their turn, then share the pictures of the towers and announce the winners of the Tower Game.

For the Strongest Tower
Teams will be given the same challenge of making a Toothpick and marshmallow Tower but rather the create a tower built for height, they must build it for strength. This means that once the tower is complete it must support the weight that is placed upon it.

For this game players / teams can be challenged to make the strongest 1 or 2 level tower within a specific amount of time. Once the time is up then you must test the towers strength.

We suggest testing the strength of the tower with either layers of magazines or books.
This way you can start with one magazine or book and add another and then another until the tower can’t support it any longer. Just be sure that a collapsing tower doesn’t damage the other towers. The last tower standing under the weight test wins this challenging party game.

We found this to be a unique challenge that boys enjoy, scout groups and even adults.
