Famous Name Game
Supplies: Pieces of paper, pens, creative thinking

A fast paced game that has elements of password, charades and pop-culture. The best part is that it is easily created by you and your guests, however the tricky part is where you and your guests will be once the same page when they must guess the famous person.

Famous Name Game Prep & Play
a. Provide each guest with 5 small pieces of paper, and a pencil/pen and ask them to write down the names of 5 famous people, leaders, movie stars, authors, sports figures, politicians, artists, inventors, scientists, cartoon characters and any other category you can think of. Adapt for your event.

b. Once completed fold the slips of paper, and put them into a hat and seat guests in a large circle. Each round is limited to 30 seconds, so have a phone or watch to time them with.

c. Select someone to go first. When the game host says go, (person timing the turns) the first player pulls out a name and tries to get the person beside them (player on their right) to guess the famous name.

If the name is guessed, the clue giver pulls another name out of the hat this continues until the time is up. (If 30 seconds is not enough adjust and move to a minutes after 1 round)

Here are the Clue Giver Rules
They can talk, but can’t point to items.
They can charade.
They can’t spell out the name. They can’t sing.
They can reference just about anything, but the person’s name. As an example, if the name is “Sammy Sosa”, the clue giver might say “The guy who had almost as many homeruns as Mark McGuire in the 1998 baseball season.” “He plays for the Chicago Cubs”, etc. Both the clue “giver” and the clue “guesser” get points for as many names as they guess in the 30-second time frame.

d. Scoring
During a turn both the Clue Giver and the Guesser earn 1 point per correct answer during their turn. Make sure some one is tracking points as this game moves fast.

e.After a turn is complete, the guesser then becomes the clue giver and his/her neighbor becomes the new guesser. This game is a blast to play, and really is not as difficult as these instructions would make it seem!

f. Having fun and want to play another round or still have lots of names in the bowl, then play another round but go in the opposite direction.

Team Variation
Instead of individual play, divide the group into teams. I like to have the guests write the names before we decide on teams because otherwise guests come up with really obscure people.

So have people write up the names and ask is everyone done and once they say yes, divide up the teams and collect the names from team one and team two in separate bowls or hats.

Now team 1 will use the names that team 2 wrote up and vise versa.

Every player on a team will have a minute to get through as many names as possible and you will alternative between the two teams. The team with the most correct names wins.
