The first player from each team gets in the water and must move the watermelon from one and of the pool to the other and back again in any manner they want but they must stay in the pool and cannot hug the edge while moving the watermelon. Once they have accomplished this task, they tag the next person in line the they must then complete the same task. This continues until everyone on the team has finished the watermelon relay. 3. Watermelon Eating Contest
Supplies: Watermelon, knife, napkins, plates optional, water to rinse hands afterwards

This is a little messy but a fun and tasty event. First give everyone a similar sized piece of watermelon. Then let your player know whether the are allowed to use their hands for this contest (easier) or if you cannot use your hands to eat the watermelon (harder and messier).

Then when the game host say Go!, each player races to be the first person to eat all of their watermelon. The first person to eat their watermelon down to the rind while obeying the rules wins. Anyone who breaks the rules is out of the contest.

4. Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest
Supplies: Watermelon with seeds, area to spit seeds, marker/markers

This Watermelon Seed Spitting game is easy and fun for kids and adults. This game is best played on dirt, asphalt, sidewalk or where you can see the watermelon seeds land.

Establish a playing line where players line up without crossing when they take their turn spitting their watermelon seeds. Then hand out watermelon slices for players to eat. As they find watermelon seeds, players come to the playing line and try to spit the watermelon seed as far as they can.

Once the seed lands mark it with a flag, coin or stick. You can have individual markers so each player can see their best result or just mark the watermelon seed that has been spit the furthest.

Give each player 3 or 5 attempts at spitting the seeds and the person who spits the watermelon seed the farthest wins.

5. Watermelon Seed Spitting Target Competition
Supplies: Watermelon with seeds, area to spit seeds, target / cup / bucket

This watermelon game is similar to the distance game but focuses on hitting a target so you to play this game in the grass.

Use a cup, bucket or create a bullseye target, then as the guests find seeds in their watermelon they can step to the players line, aim and try to spit the watermelon seed into or onto the target.

Each player will be given the same number of attempts to you the target and will receive 1 point for each time they land on or in the target. (Please check the target after each attempt and remove any seeds from the target before the next player takes their turn. Each player should receive the same number of attempts, we recommend 10 for this watermelon game.

After all players have taken their attempts at the target, add up the scores and the one with the most points in the winner. If there is a tie, do a sudden death round until someone hits the target and can be declared the winner.

6. Watermelon Grab Game – Single Player or Teams
Supplies: Watermelon, swimming pool, something to grease the watermelon

This Slippery game involves greasing the outside of your watermelon with Crisco, vegetable oil or Vaseline so it is very slippery. Once the watermelon is greased then toss the watermelon into a pool and tell the swimmers that the first person to get the watermelon out of the pool wins.

Another option is to form teams and give each team an end of the pool to defend. The first team to get the watermelon to the other teams end first wins. (Player must have control of the watermelon and the other hand just needs to touch the pool edge.) Once a point is scored, the other team gets the watermelon in the center of the pool. The game continues until a team reaches a set amount of points, we recommend 3 points, then they are declared the winner.
