Pumpkin Golf
Pumpkin Golf
Pumpkin Golf is a simple and fun idea and we love it. Pumpkin Golf is perfect if you have a large yard or space. Pumpkin Golf is also great for Halloween Carnival Stations and events where kids do one game or activity and move to the next activity.
You can also set up a Miniature Pumpkin Golf Course with 3, 5 or 7 holes. Simply mark off a playing area for the hole, add obstacles like tombstones (can also be used as a border too), Halloween items or household items and then have the kids play.
Pumpkin Golf is played just like miniature golf where you use putters to hit the golf ball into the pumpkins mouth rather than a cup.
Making Pumpkin Golf Pumpkins
To create a pumpkin golf pumpkin, you'll need to cut off the bottom of the pumpkin and then clean out the inside of the pumpkin and then add the mouth to the pumpkin. Note: THe pumpkins mouth will also serve as the entree point for the golf ball so the mouth must be at the bottom of the pumpkin. Then create the eyes and nose just as you would a normal pumpkin.
Pumpkin Golf With One Pumpkin
Set up the pumpkin and then have each child putt from ten feet away more if older. If they sink the put then they get Halloween candy or a prize. If they miss the next person goes. Make this more elaborate by using wood to contain the golf balls and add obstacles like tombstones, a witches hat, a ghoul coming out of the ground.
Creating a Pumpkin Golf Course with 3, 5, or more Pumpkins
Create the miniature Pumpkin Golf course by laying out the pumpkins and consider marking of the course with tape, wooden boards or if on grass spray paint. If outside you can be creative and do a straight shot, one around a tree, beside a path, etc... use obstables for more fun. Then have groups of 2 or 3 kids play the course. If you have a parent go with each group to keep score or you can just let them play.
If you don't have putters then just have the kids roll / toss the golf balls at the pumpkins. It's is just as much fun.
Use obstacles at noted above to make the holes more difficult for older kids and it can also help create a border. If a child hits the ball outside the playing area a one stroke penalty is applied.
After the kids have played Pumpkin Golf the lowest score wins a prize or just let they play for fun without scoring. FYI – You are likely to have several kids with the same score so have several prizes.
Thanks, Mike B.
