Ernie the Elf & The Special Gift Left Right Game
Supplies: Printable game, printer, guests with gifts
One of the most popular gift exchange games is the Left Right Gift Passing Story, where guests pass gifts to the Left and Right when the words are read in the story. We have read many over the years, and these Christmas Left Right games tend to focus more on passing your gift rather than a great story.
Well Russ set aside the time and wrote a charming story about Ernie the Elf and his drive to get a very special gift to a little girl on Christmas. While this story is a Holiday Left Right Story, it is special enough you might want to read it on Christmas Eve too. Join Ernie and his Christmas Eve Left Right Adventure.

Our Christmas Left Right Story can be used at any sized gift exchange whether 4 or 104. Plus, we added a few extra lines, just in case your guests end up with the gift that they came with. That way you have a few more Left’s and Right’s to mix up those gifts.
Party Host Tip
If you are the Party Host and plan on taking part in the Left Right Story, consider recording the story on your phone and then playing it over a portable speaker. If you do this, be sure to read the story slowly and have the recording on your phone so you can start and pause it if needed.
For your Left Right Gift Exchange, let people know to bring a gift for the gift exchange and what the spending limit it. The gifts should be wrapped, because that adds to the fun.
If you are not asking gifts to be brought to the party, which happens at kids holiday events, have prizes or itmes to be passed during this game and have one or two gifts be special presents. Often have a mystery prize or special present makes the gift passing game/ pass the parcel game more fun.
Here is how Ernie the Elf & The Special Gift begins.
Racing outside of the Toy Shop, Ernie the Elf called out, “Where’s Santa?”
Thomas Elf and Suzie Elf both replied, “He just LEFT with the last load of toys. See, way off in the distance, he’s RIGHT there”
“Oh, no,” said Ernie, “I had to make some adjustments to this toy, and Santa has to deliver it. Mallory has been so good all year, she’s done everything RIGHT. This toy can’t be LEFT behind.”
The story continues as Ernie works to find a way to get Mallory’s gift to Santa, so it can be delivered in time for Christmas. Unforeseen challenges put Ernie’s mission in jeopardy, but with some new friends and a little Christmas magic, Ernie might just get the job done!
