Baby
Shower Games for Everyone!
Don't say "BABY"
Each guest receives
a clothes pin as they arrive and explain to the guests only once: If
you catch someone saying the word 'baby' you get to take their clothes
pin. The one with the most pins at the end of the shower wins.
- Suggestion: Instead of using safety pins, make candy pacifiers. Use
white certs (the ones like lifesavers), pink or blue ribbon, and jelly
belly jelly beans. How to make: Put ribbon through the cert, and then
glue a jelly bean in the center. Note: Tell guest not to eat the pacifiers.
Play the game the same way, but wear the pacifiers around the neck.
The Price is Right:
Just like TV, purchase
several baby items and keep the receipt. Have the items out for the
guests to see, and have them write down what the price of each item.
The one closest without going over to the actual price wins.
Baby Shower Word Scramble
Two versions:
1. Take words of baby items and mix up the letters, then have guests
unscramble the words. Do 10-15 and make so tough the most correct wins.
2. (as an ice-breaker) Use the expecting mother's first and last name,
create teams of 2-3 end have each team come up with as many baby terms
from the mother's name as possible. The team with the most real words
wins.
Penny For Your Thoughts
Introduction Game
- Have two pennies from the same year, you'll a different year for each
guest. Example:15 guests, 30 pennies, 15 different years. When guests
come in they are given a penny and the other penny is put in a jar.
When all the guests have arrived the Mother-to-be selects a penny and
the person with that corresponding year tells a little about themselves,
how they know the Mother, and maybe a little story about the new Mom.
After everyone has spoken the Mom-to-be puts her pennies into the jar
and selects one for a prize.

Baby Food
Guess
Purchase 6-10
jars of baby food, remove the wrappers and number then number the
jars. Have the guests try to guess the food.
Photo Game
Collect a baby photo
from each guest and one of the mother, display them and have the guests
try and pick which photo is the mother when she was a baby.
Mystery Guess:
Place odd shaped baby
related objects in brown paper bags. The guests have to guess what
is in each bag without opening it.
Name the White Stuff:
Place 10 different
white powdered substances in sealed numbered plastic bags. Use things
like Flour, Powdered Milk, Baby Powder, etc. Have them out for the
guests to see, and guess what is in each bag. I have made a game sheet
with 10 items to use, and a blank form for the guests to fill out.
Hang the Laundry:
Hang a clothes
line at the shower. Have a pile or a basket with baby clothes, blankets,
and clothes pins. Each guest has a certain amount of time to hang
the clothes while they are holding a baby (doll) and have a cordless
phone to their ear. The ones that can hang the most clothing without
droping baby or the phone wins.
Baby Bottle Drink-Off!
Fill small baby bottles
with fruit juice for each guest. NOTE: Provide a variety of juices
or water ( add food coloring for baby shower colors), for those guests
with food allergies. The person who finishes the bottle first receives
a prize. It is hilarious and much harder than you would think. This
activity may be played individually or combined with a few other ideas
in a group race.
Pins in Rice:
A Baby Shower Classic
Place about 50 small safety pins in a bowl of uncooked rice. The blindfolded
guest has to pick out as many safety pins as they can. Set a time
limit such as 30 seconds. The one with the most pins wins.
Change The Diaper
Sounds normal, here's the twist: teams of two need to change the baby's
diaper each team member can only use one of their own hands - the
other belongs to their partner. The fastest team wins!
Play Dough-tionary
We had a really big shower, probably 50 people there, so we had them
divide up in teams. I got several jars of play dough, and gave one
to each team of 4 people. They picked one person to go first, that
person would draw a word from a basket. I filled a basket with pieces
of paper with baby type words on them (stroller, bed, diaper, etc...)
and then it was a race to "sculpt" the word out of the play dough,
while their team members tried to guess what it was.
It was hilarious. Of course some words were much easier then others,
and every team had a different word, so there was not a problem with
one team looking what someone else was sculpting. We did this several
times, and had a good time. I gave a small prize to everyone on the
team when they won a round. The play dough works great too if there
are any children at the shower, it keeps them busy, so be sure to
buy plenty.
Thanks - Diana

Measure Mommy:
Pass out yarn, string,
or toilet paper and have the guests take off the amount they think
will fit around a part of mommy's body. (Everyone will think it is
going to be her tummy, but instead use her head, neck, or ankle!)
Pass The Box
(Can be used for any
type of shower) This is really fun, Take a small gift, like a pretty
candle and place it in a box, then gift wrap it, but keep wrapping
it with different layers of giftwrap. Play some music while passing
the present around, when the music stops, the guest left holding it
unwraps the first layer of wrapping paper, then the music starts again
and the box is passed, then everytime the music stops, another layer
is removed until someone finally unwraps the very last layer,,,,,
and that is the winner.
What's In the Diaper
Melt or smash different kinds of candy (m&m's, snickers, baby ruth,
skittles) and put into a diaper. Then pass the diapers with the smashed
candy in it around the rooms, each guest must examine and smell the
contents of the diaper to determine what the candy it is. Then they
write down the name of the candy on a sheet of paper, the guest with
the most right wins a small prize. Before the game begins and the
candy is smeared into the diaper you should number the diapers so
there is no confusion as to what candy is in which diaper. Note: Have
your camera ready for this game, you will get some priceless pictures
not soon to be forgotten.
We will have the name of the submitter up shortly
Baby Shower Bingo
Make up a blank bingo card on 8 1/2 X 11 paper and made copies. Each
card had five columns and five rows. The boxes need to be large enough
that the guests can fill them in. Then on another sheet of paper come
up with 100 baby related items. Before you play you need to have each
guest fill in their blank spaces with any of the words on the list
of 100 in any order.
Then, without telling the guests ahead of time, have them play bingo
while the mother to be opens her gifts. Every time that she opens
one of the gifts the guests mark off that gift on their bingo card.
The first to bingo either up and down, across or diagonally wins.
We had enough prizes that we were able to play this game the entire
time that the mother opened gifts.
Thanks - Diana

Feeding Race
Have guests partner up. Put a bib on 1 person in each team. Have the
other person of the pair get behind the person with the bib to be
their "arms". The person behind feeds the person with the bib from
a jar of baby food. The first pair to finish their food wins. This
can get messy, so use a table cloth or wipable surface - and have
the cameras ready! Thanks - Bonnie
Create a Baby Keepsake
Buy a flannel baby blanket, and some pastel colored permanent fabric
markers. You will also need an embroidery hoop, to help hold the blanket
tight. During the course of the shower pass around the blanket and
markers and let everyone "autograph" the blanket, or draw, or and
add any comments for the "baby to be". You'll get some great and personal
responses were so, it will be something that "baby" or mom can keep
forever. Thanks - Diana
Baby Animal Game
You create a sheet with a list of animals and their babies, the one
who gets the most right wins a small gift. We
found an example here.
Pass The Diaper
Take a newborn diaper and put 5 little baby items in the diaper and
close it up. Have the guests pass the diaper around and guess what
is
in the diaper. The one to guess the most items wins. Thanks - Kim
What's in the Bag II
Place 12 to 15 baby related items in one large bag. Give each guest
a
certain amount of time to feel, using one hand, around in the bag.
The
guests have to record as many items as they can remember. Whoever
remembers the most items wins. Thanks - Allison
The Tray Game
Played at baby showers, bridal showers or anywhere.
What you'll need a tray and other household items, examples below.
Everyone is handed
a piece of paper and a pen. The object of the game is to see who can
remember the most items on the tray. A tray full of items is brought
out with a towel over it covering the contents of the tray. The tray
is uncovered and placed in the center of the room preferably on a
table. The guests have exactly two minutes to look over the tray.
The tray can be rotated so that it can be seen from other angles but
no touching the contents. After the minute is up everyone writes down
what they remember. The person who remembers the most gets a prize.
To be successful you should have a lot of things on the tray, and
a list of what is on the tray.
Examples of tray
contents ( should be small, or sample size) Baby shower- pacifier,
baby spoon, bib, diaper, qtips, thermometer, diaper rash tube, baby
powder, baby sock, pen, invitation, fork, baby comb, ball, regular
or plastic keys, can opener, jar of baby food, barrette, extra large
safety pin, crayon or small box of crayons... etc Thanks - Melvina
Tray Game Variation
Have the person go around the room with baby items on it as planned,
but instead of asking questions about the items on the tray ask the
questions about how the person carrying the tray is dressed! FYI -
Have the person carrying the tray leave the room before asking questions
about them.
It always gets a great laugh!! Thanks - Eileen
Draw The Baby
This baby shower game requires paper plates, pencils/pens, and a timer.
First, the guests will put their initials (or name) on one side of
the plate. Then flip it over to begin. The guests have to draw a picture
of a baby on the paper plate. The key is, the paper plate is on the
top of their heads while they are drawing. They cannot stop and look
at their drawing during this and have 2 minutes to complete. At the
end of the 2 minutes, someone collects the paper plates (NOT the mom-to-be)
and the mom-to-be is the judge and picks the one she likes the best.

Get To Know
You and Pick Teams Game
This is the game you play before you play games.
Its a fun way to break-the-ice when guests don't know each other,
and you may not be sure the best way to divide up teams.
- Say you have
20 guests - and need 5 teams of four people each
- Pick five songs everyone knows. Write down each song four
times on separate pieces of paper. (Mary Had a Little Lamb x 4, Take
Me Out to the Ball Game x 4, and so on . . .)
- Pass the 20 slips of paper to the guests randomly.
- One the count of three everyone starts humming their song (no
words). The goal is to find the other three people humming your same
song. When everyone finds their song-mates -- the teams have been
set!
Thanks - Kelly
IceBreaker
- Discovery Game
This is a good game to start a party so that people can break the
ice and get to know each other a little better great for showers or
any event. Each guest receives a piece of paper and a pencil. In that
paper they will find 10-15 different sentences. They have to find
somebody in that room that shares what the sentence says and once
they do, they write in that persons name. No listing yourself as the
answer either! The winner is the first person to finish or whoever
gets the most names, and you can give them a reward. To make it more
fun, read the sentence and the answers to the group, so all can enjoy.
For instance you can write things such as:
- Find somebody who wears your same shoe size Name:______
- Find somebody who likes chinese food
- Find somebody who has been to Europe
You can be as creative as you want to be! This one is a guaranteed
success to make people feel comfortable with each other.
Thanks - Ruth
Icebreaker - Cartoon Characters Who Am I
Get to know you game. Label 3X5 cards with famous characters from
childhood. For example, you can use Barney, Winnie th Pooh, Barbie,
etc. Make as many cards as there are guests and tape them to their
backs without them seeing who they are. They figure out who they are
by asking each person one yes or no question, such as, am I a girl?,
do I have red hair? etc. Thanks - Jeannie
Put-Pacifier-in-Baby's-Mouth
...just
like "Pin-The-Tail-On-Donkey" rules, except make printouts
or draw
little pacifiers, number them for as many guests there are, make printout
of
baby or draw one (I used Microsoft Word's Clip Art ) and found image
of
crying baby in a bassinet, printed it out on 11x14 paper and hung
it with
tape on wall. We used scarf for blindfold and turned guests each twice
when it was their turn.
Thanks - Kari
The Toilet
Paper Game - Ice Breaker
This is great for a "getting to you know you game". Have
everyone sit in a circle and pass around a roll of toilet paper. Ask
everyone to pretend they were going on a weekend camping trip and
they need to take as much or as little toilet paper off as they would
use. Once everyone has tore off their sheets tell them they have to
tell something about themselves for every sheet they took off. For
the ones to took a few they have it easy and they ones who took a
lot then they have a lot of talking to do!
Thanks - Marcie
Baby Shower Toilet Paper Game ~ New Version
Have everyone at the party guess the sieze of the Mom ~to~be with
toilet paper. (Belly Botton to Belly Botton) They have to guess just
by looking at her. The one whos guess is closest, wins.
Thanks Heather
Baby Shower Activity - Baby's First Bank
Before the shower ask everyone to bring some spare change. At the
shower, I passed around a plastic baby bottle or you could bring a
piggy bank and everyone put in their spare change out of their pockets
or purses. As the bottle gets passed around, have each guest give
a piece of advice for the new mother. This should be loud enough so
all the guests could hear. Then the money and bottle were given to
the new mom to start the baby a savings account. It was a fun little
thing for the mom to bring home.
Thanks - Delinda
Build the Bank Game
Give everyone a name tag to wear when they arrive. On the name tag
you put name of different baby items like: bib, baby bottle, crib,
stroller, formula, etc. During the shower everyone must call everyone
by the item on the name tag rather than their real name. Whoever calls
the person by her real name intead of the baby item name has to pay
.50 cents and put it in the piggy bank. If the shower is big, this
can add up to be a great start for a savings account.
Thanks - Mina
Create a Baby Library - Activity
Place a
note inside the baby shower invitation for everyone to bring a child's
book to the shower. This is used to start the baby's library with.
The
mother-to-be will go home with a stack of everyone's favorite books.
You can also stamped each book with a rubber stamp that says "From
the Library of ______________" and after the baby is born the
mom can write in the baby's name. Thanks - Delinda

Dont Cross
Your Legs! Game
Every one starts out with one close pin.....or saftey pin on their
shirt (some where visible) Any time someone crosses their legs another
player can ask for their pin. If a player with many pins crosses their
legs they only loose one, not all of them. The person with the most
pins by the end of the party....or an alloted amount of time wins!
We usually have a cute prize for the winner. This game is fun and
allows everyone to walk around talk to each other....waiting for someone
to mess up and cross their legs.
Thanks - Tairra
Draw The Guest - Get to Know You Game
Need name tags, paper, pens, pencils, etc...
First, be sure that all of your guests wear a name tag and write on
a piece of paper (one per guest) their first name, fold the paper
in half and put it in a paper sack. When all guests have arrived,
give each guest paper (81/2x11) and pencil, then have each guest pick
a name from the paper sack.
They cannot say who's
name they have picked. Each guest has to draw that person's face, but
remind them that they should not stare at the person they are drawing
or they might give away who drew who! For example, if the person has
short or long hair, or wearing glasses or may be wearing earrings, they
must draw how they look or might be wearing too. Have different color
crayons on hand too because they can color that person's hair, eyes,
etc. Also, they must draw a baby's bonnet on the person's head. (For
Baby Shower, but this could change based on the Holiday or event. Holiday
Party - Santa hat, Halloween - witches hat, etc...)
There is no time limit. When they are done, collect each drawing and
ask
that person who she drew and number that picture and write down that
person's name (drawing of the person) next to that number on a sheet
of paper. Do this until all guests have handed in their drawings. Next,
string a ribbon somewhere across the room and hang each picture with
a clothespin. Give all the guests who participated a sheet of paper
and a pencil and have them write down starting with #1 who that person
might be. Give a time limit on guessing. The person who has the most
correct answers win a prize. You
won't believe how these pictures turn out. It's going to be really hilarious.
Thanks Trudy
Drop a Penny in a Game
Have everyone line up. Put a baby bottle about 10 feet away from the
start of the line. The person has to put a penny between their knees
and hobble all the way to the baby bottle and drop it in without dropping
it on the floor. The one to make it in the bottle without dropping it,
wins. (Not likley, but if you have more then one that can actually do
this, make them go till one drops it and the one who makes it in after
that wins.)
Thanks, Heather
NEW!
Salad Tong Cotton Ball Game
Blindfold a guest and have them kneel on the floor. Give the guest a
pair of
salad tongs and place a bowl in front of them. Spread cotton balls all
over the
floor in front of them. The object is to scoop as many cotton balls
off the floor without touching the bowl or the cotton balls with their
hands, and place them into the bowl within 5 seconds. The person that
has the most cotton balls in the bowl at the end wins!
Thanks - Sherryce
Picasso Baby Game
You need a marker board, erasable markers, eraser, blindfold, and a
simple picture of a baby. Have your guests form a line, and show each
guest the same picture of a baby. Then, one by one, the guests get blindfolded,
spun around three times, and directed to the dry erase marker board.
They then have to try and draw the baby that was shown in the picture,
while blindfolded and dizzy! The mother determines the winner.
Thanks Laura
